Young Females at Greater Risk of Stroke Than Young Males.

A review of 16 studies regarding stroke incidence in the younger adult population found that women under the age of 35 are 44% more likely to suffer an ischemic stroke than men in the same age group. While the review does not pinpoint a reason for the difference, the authors of the study note that adults of all ages can reduce their risk for stroke by managing stress, maintaining a healthy weight and blood pressure, eating a nutritious diet, not smoking, and getting regular exercise.
