Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy and Low Vitamin D?
Painful peripheral neuropathy is a common long-term complication in patients with type 2 diabetes. An analysis of blood samples from 483 type 2 diabetics revealed that those with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy were three times more likely to have severe vitamin D deficiency, leading researchers to suggest that low vitamin D status may be a risk factor for the condition.
